Coaches Training & Child Protection
All people who intend to work or volunteer in any of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati parishes, schools, or institutions, must also attend (or have already attended) a VIRTUS® Child Awareness Session for the Decree on Child Protection before being approved to work with children.
If you are working or volunteering at St. Bernard, contact Lynn Rothan at 353-4207 ext. 6 or email Lynn Rothan for a pre-paid code for the on-line background check. Then log on to www.virtus.org to register for VIRTUS - Child Protection Awareness Training and complete the online background check at the same time. Do NOT enter credit card information as there is no reimbursement.
If you or someone you know has been abused at any time by an agent of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati (priest, deacon, employee or volunteer), please report the abuse to secular legal authorities and the Victims’ Assistance Coordinator of the Archdiocese at 513-421-3131 or 1-800-686-2724.
Ohio law requires all coaches to take an online course on concussions. Each and every coach should complete the course offered by The National Federation of State High School Associations at the following link prior to beginning any activity (including evals) with your sport: http://www.nfhslearn.com/electiveDetail.aspx?courseID=38000. When complete, please provide your certificate of completion to your sports coordinator. Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Youth Athletes
Ohio law developed guidelines require organization to to inform and educate students and youth athletes participating in or desiring to participate in an athletic activity, their parents, and their coaches about the nature and warning signs of sudden cardiac arrest.
